| Abstract | Dentre os diversos procedimentos utilizados para a classificação de imagens, pouca ênfase tem sido dada à classificação contextual que faz uso de informações auxiliares, para descrever fenômenos e feições que facilitem a identificação e classificação dos alvos. Uma das ferramentas potencialmente capaz de lidar com as informações contextuais são as Redes Bayesianas (RBs). Um modelo de rede bayesiana simples foi utilizado com modelos de probabilidade a priori discretizados. As variáveis usadas foram: altitude, declividade e o índice de vegetação normalizado (NDVI) com o intuito de delimitar pixels com alta probabilidade de pertencerem a uma classe genérica chamada de culturas agrícolas. A área de estudo está compreendida numa sub-imagem do sensor ASTER nas bandas do visível e infravermelho próximo (VNIR) com resolução espacial de 15 m de parte do município de Viçosa-MG. Probabilidades geométricas da ocorrência de cada um dos níveis discretizados nas variáveis discriminantes foram usadas como valor de probabilidade a priori no modelo da rede bayesiana. Os resultados mostraram que existe uma diferença significativa entre as exatidões obtidas com e sem o uso da informação contextual, sendo que, com o uso de RB os índices de exatidão tendem a ser maiores, indicando a importância do uso de informações contextuais, através de Redes Bayesianas na identificação de feições em imagens de sensoriamento remoto. ABSTRACT: Amongst the several procedures used in image classifications, less emphasis has been given to contextual classification that uses ancillary information, in order to describe phenomena a and spatial features that facilitate the identification and classification of targets. One of the potential tools capable to deal with contextual information are the Bayesian Networks (BNs). A simple Bayesian Network model was used with discrete models of a prior probability. The used variables were: elevation, slope and the normalized vegetation index (NDVI), in order to identify pixels with high probability to belong to a generic class named "cropland". The study area is covered by a sub-image from the ASTER sensor with visible and near infrared bands (VNIR) and spatial resolution of 15 m from part of the municipality of Viçosa-MG. Geometric probabilities of occurrence for each one of these discrete levels in the discriminate variables were used as a prior probability values in this Bayesian Networks model. Results indicate that there is a significant difference between the accuracy obtained with and without the use of the contextual information with better accuracy figures for the use of Bayesian Networks indicating the relevance of the use of contextual information, through Bayesian Networks to identify features in remote sensing images. |
